Manuscript (Magnum Opus?) Excerpt Published in Graduation Anthology

I present thee: Ye Olde Manuscript (W-I-P); A Sodomite Out of Principle. This project has consumed my life for the better half of a year, and is my—for the foreseeable future—magnum opus… I tend to embrace my European roots through writing, as well as the more debauched side of literature, and the Marquis de Sade has played a prominent role in all of this. I began this work in a Master Class at Sheridan, and once those fourteen weeks were up, I knew I could not merely drop such a tale. I have been asked by countless individuals as to why I chose the Marquis de Sade, of all people, to craft a piece of historical fiction, and it is an answer I find difficult to articulate through my manacled reticence. Writing is my life’s purpose; I am wedded to it, and it, to I. In concocting and coaxing such a depraved narrative, I find it the only way to cope with my lifelong struggle with chronic pain—a part of me that alienates beyond words could ever describe. I feel as if I will never attain the concept of normalcy I wish for, but through exploring and enacting such debauchery on the page, I find the absurdity of it all quite therapeutic. This manuscript is my own rhetoric, in a sense—to myself. As stated in an interview I partook in (regarding my MS): ‘[…] You could say this is a type of Sadeian analysis, but I disregard it as such…this is, first and foremost, a work of fiction; secondly, it is a twisted panegyric for a young woman who has been deprived of the normalcy of muliebrity.’

Thank you to the incredible CW&P Anthology team for publishing my licentious prolificacy! You all performed an immaculate job on the CW&P Class of 2026 Graduation Anthology. 🩵🤍

One final hurrah for CW&Pals.
